Zainab Olanrewaju, a graduate of the University of Ilorin, completed her Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication after a journey full of unexpected challenges and determination.
She initially began her studies in Architectural Technology, a field she hadn’t planned for, but later discovered her true passion in Mass Communication.
Zainab started her BSc with both parents by her side, but sadly, only one was there to see her finish. Her father was surprised when she gained admission, as her older siblings hadn’t succeeded at getting into UNILORIN.
She had also tried studying Agriculture but realized it wasn’t her path. Instead, she found herself in a course she hadn’t anticipated—Architectural Technology.

“Let me tell you who I am again:
I am Zainab Olanrewaju, a full blown Science student turn premature Arts student.
OND, Architectural Technology (UPPER CREDIT) – Kwara State Polytechnic.
BSc. Mass Communication (SECOND CLASS UPPER) – University of Ilorin.
MSc. I-don-tire! – Harvard or Cambridge University.”
Despite the challenges, Zainab dedicated herself and graduated with Upper Credit. However, her love for communication led her to switch to Mass Communication in 2019. Today, she proudly holds a degree in her passion, which took five years to complete.
Zainab Olanrewaju shared her story on LinkedIn, expressing her gratitude for her father’s role in her journey, even though he couldn’t see her graduate. She encourages others to pursue their dreams with passion and dedication, no matter the challenges.
